If you have read my manifesto, you will know the direction I want to take. I want to grow the market for RL tasks and evaluations. I want more people to use their expertise and practical experience to teach AI, and to be paid for that contribution.

I believe this market will grow substantially in the years ahead. So I’m creating video lectures on evals and RL tasks to help more people seize that opportunity.

You might then ask:

If this market is so promising, why tell others about it instead of pursuing the opportunity on your own?

It’s simple. For a new market to grow, more people need to be able to participate in it.

It is hard to take part in a market when you do not yet know what it produces or what people will pay for. I believe education is the starting point for growing this market.

New industries need new learning

As industrialization spread in the 1800s, many people had little access to education. The need to prepare people for factories and new industries increased demand for basic reading, writing, and arithmetic, and schooling gradually expanded. These changes helped lay the foundations of today’s public education systems.

Helping more people participate

AI is opening a new era. I believe the Task Economy will become an important industry within it. So we need to grow this market. Just as public education helped prepare people to participate in new industries during industrialization, we now need to explain why teaching AI matters and how people can turn their expertise into tasks and evaluations that AI can learn from. That is why I make lectures and share what I know.

A scalable way to grow the market

Just as public education expanded and schools were established alongside industrialization in the 1800s, the growth of the Task Economy calls for new forms of education in the AI era. I intend to build a school that prepares people to participate in this market. People will learn by turning their work into tasks, evaluating the results, and fixing what goes wrong.

I want more people to be able to teach AI. I want to help build a market where people’s expertise and practical experience become model capabilities, and where those contributions are fairly paid. That is the purpose of the school I want to build.
